The tweeter, mid and bass drivers on the AE520 are constructed from carbon fibre, for a lightweight yet stiff cone, the ideal properties for a speaker driver. Carbon fibre is better damped than other hard dome tweeter materials, providing a lightning fast response combined with a natural sound. The aluminium WDT waveguide on the tweeter allows for optimum dispersion, and further reduces vibrations being passed on to the tweeter.

The AE520 speakers use two 125mm mid drivers, alongside three 125mm bass drivers, incorporating new oversized 35mm voice coils with very high motor force, to produce a dynamic yet highly controlled bass response. The mid woofers have an optimised motor and suspension system, ensuring mid-range definition and low distortion. The lightweight carbon fibre cone increases musical clarity, letting you hear your music with startling neutrality.

With a Mid Tweeter Mid (MTM) driver layout, with three lower bass drivers, the Acoustic Energy floorstanders utilise a 3-way crossover with high voltage polypropylene film capacitors creating optimum dispersion through a smaller acoustic source size. The AE520 cabinets are constructed of new Resonance Suppression Composite, evolved from Acoustic Energy’s Reference Series, with constrained layer composite to reduce unwanted vibrations which might colour the sound. Finished in high gloss black, white or walnut veneer, the clean lines of these speakers will suit any interior style.
